This section describes CNC taper flange tooling, and several common tool holding methods. End mill holders, double angle, and ER collets are described, and one style of rigid tap holder.

20.01 Toolholders

At the end of this unit the student will be able to identify the key features of the shank end of CNC machine toolholders.

20.02 Double Angle Collets

At the end of this unit the student will be able to recognize double angle collets, and know some of the advantages and limitations of this style toolholder.

20.03 Single Angle Collets

At the end of this unit the student will be able to recognize single angle collets, and know some of the advantages and limitations of this style toolholder.

20.04 Endmill Holders

At the end of this unit the student will be able to identify the correct application of end mill holders, and know some of the advantages and limitations of this style toolholder.

20.05 Tap Holders

At the end of this unit the student will be able to identify several components of tap holders and safely and correctly mount tools into these holders.
